The most recent guidebook for the Kelowna area is Karin Hanna's Kelowna Rock Climbing (2016). New information since this publication is available on:
- Mountain Project
KLO Crag
The entrance is located here.
Not a ton of parking is available. If it’s really busy you may need to park at the top of the hill and walk down into the creek entrance.
One outhouse is located at the start of the hike in.
Lots of new climbs are not in the book so you will need to research other sources or ask locals.
No camping.
Lonely Crags
The parking lot is roughly here.
More precisely – when you follow Upper Mission Drive it will turn into a gravel road. As soon as it turns into gravel, on the left side they are developing a new road – do not park here. On the right side there’s a small parking lot. Or, if you keep driving after the road development, there are two smaller parking lots located on the left side. If those are full people will park on the side of the gravel road.
“Lonely Island” is developed as a beginner friendly crag which is not yet in the book.
No outhouses or facilities of any kind here.
No camping.
John’s Family Crag (this area is also referred to as Cedar or Kelowna Crags)
Parking is located here.
One outhouse is located about a 10 minute walk into the park: follow the main road until you hit it, it’s right at the top of the stairs before you walk down towards the crag.
A beginner friendly crag “Warm-Up Wall” is not located in the book.
No camping.
Okanagan Boulderfields
The Boulderfields has both sport, trad and boulder climbs, but is primarily a bouldering destination.
This area is at a high elevation so weather is typically cooler than in Kelowna.
Parking is located here.
Low clearance vehicles should drive with care. The road from Kelowna to the Boulderfields is a dirt road and can be rough at times.
Two outhouses at located at the parking lot.
Camping is allowed at the Rec site, information on sites can be found here. Has a number of sites with picnic tables.
Boucherie Crag (West Kelowna)
Original Parking Lot: The original parking lot is here. The turn is easy to miss and cars with low clearance might scrape their vehicles as there’s a steep dip up into the parking lot.
New Parking Lot: If you arrived at the original parking lot coming from Kelowna, drive another 100m on the right and there is an entrance to a newer, larger parking lot.
There are no outhouses or facilities of any kind at Boucherie.
No camping.
